Vugar Verdiyev: Second place is not for me
Despite of silver medal in European Chmpionship bodybuilder Vugar Verdiyev is not in good mood. Athlete planned to gain gold but lost to Aleksandr Kadzoyev from Russia. Vugar Verdiyev gave an interview to our website about all of it.
First of all, congratulations on silver. But I guess you don’t satisfy with second place.
I was in very good form and I was a leader in category 85 kg. After weighting many referees came up to me and congratulated on victory beforehand. In spite of it referees set me up on second place. European Championship held in Baku and I wanted to hear our anthem and see our flag. I could be able to do that, but referees decision spoiled everything.
You create an impression as an aggressive athlete. May I call it as your visit card?
I want to say only one thing. I will definitely gain gold. Maybe it will be this year on World Championship in South Korea.
Did you deal with opponents after awarding?
I was not in good mood for dealing. But a lot of people came up to me and said that I was the best in this category. After awarding some fans just went away from arena.
How can you appraise the team performance?
Four medals are very good result for us. Team takes second place in rating. That’s good.
Despite of it life goes on..
Sure. It is my first European medal. But second place is not for me. I need only first place.
